The first look at the menu from Sushi Q Tea Cafe and one can’t help to notice that the select of Bubble Tea is much greater than the selection of sushi. There are sushi rolls, nigiri, cones, and some other items from the kitchen, and the bubble tea is grouped into several categories, like Bubble Tea, Bubble Slush, Fruit Smooties, Calpis Slush, and more.
Located in a tiny strip-mall on the corner of Edmonds and Canada Way, the small room feels like a relaxed place to chill out, have a drink, use some free wifi, all amongst the shelves of asian comic books and magazines.
For sushi, we ordered the Dynamite Roll, Avocado Roll, and Mango Roll and all of the rolls tasted pretty good. We each tried a cone, the Veggie Cone and the Scallop and Tobiko Cone, and these were put together well and also tasted really good. For Nigiri, we ordered Salmon, Tuna, Ebi, and some Inari and there was nothing special about these but also nothing to complain about either. One thing that was noticeably missing from the menu was Agedashi Tofu, however they still have several other kitchen items like Gyoza, Teriyaki, and Tempura.
Obviously the Bubble Tea is a big draw here as everyone had one of these drinks in the restaurant and several people came in to just order a drink to go. We ordered the Green Mango Slushy with Pearls and the Banana Bubble Tea with Pearls . Bubble tea is certainly an acquired taste and if you haven’t experienced it before, you have to get past the thought that there are round gummy bears coming up your straw. We both really enjoyed the Green Mango Slushy but the Banana Bubble Tea was not as good. Their selection is really big though, so this wouldn’t deter us from going back.
We weren’t sure what to expect but we ended up enjoying our experience at Sushi Q Tea Cafe and would certainly make a point of going back. Our only complaint was our food and drinks took awhile to arrive but prices were reasonable and they even have a delivery service for those who live close by.
