Located along Kingsway, east of Metrotown near Royal Oak Avenue, Sushi Bella has a funky decor inside and some creative and delicious tasting sushi. While new to the Burnaby area in mid-2015, the restaurant has several other locations located throughout the Metro Vancouver region and, therefore, is no newcomer to the sushi scene.

I visited Bella Sushi for lunch on a weekday and order a couple of their specialty rolls. The first was the Crunchy Go-Go Roll, which consisted of double prawns, yam tempura, avocado, crunchy flakes, and chilli mayo. This roll had just the right amount of crunch yet the avocado gave it a sort of competing smoothness and the chilli mayo a bit of zing. While it might be easy to compare the Crunchy Go-Go Roll to a Dynamite Roll, it was so much more than that!

The second roll I ordered was the Ocean Dream Roll and what a dream it was! It consists of Negitoro and Avocado inside, sliced tuna, avocado on top with chilli mayo sauce. The Ocean Dream Roll was one of the most delicious rolls I’ve had as the softness of the avocado and tuna was a perfect mix with a bit of chilli mayo sauce. The pieces of fish on top were perfectly cut and the roll was well made, making it easy to pick up and the perfect, flavourful bite of sushi.

Inside is quite funky, with their signature blue logo and matching menus complimented with dark wood furniture. Service was excellent and, despite both rolls being specialty rolls, they both arrives quite quickly while still fresh. Parking is difficult as there are only a few metered during the day spots along Kingsway and not during rush hour. However, after rush hour, parking is free and there is parking heading east along Kingsway.

Both rolls were so good I can’t wait to go back for dinner and try more of their sushi. With such good food, Sushi Bella might become the new busy sushi restaurant in the Metrotown area.
