Located along Lougheed Highway at Bainbridge, Gaya Sushi is a relatively new restaurant with a wide selection of sushi rolls, nigiri, cones, sashimi, noodles, and other items from the kitchen. They are the only sushi restaurant located in the area, which probably makes them quite popular amongst the nearby businesses and residents.

We ordered two specialty rolls, including the Fire Cracker Roll (scallop, smoked salmon / spicy tuna on top) and the Hot Night Roll (dynamite roll / spicy tuna on top). They looked good and tasted good but were not mind-blowing for rolls that are on the higher end of the sushi scale. For specialty rolls, they were good for the price as they were respectively priced at $4.99 and $5.99 compared to other restaurant’s who have special rolls ranging in the $7 – $12 range.
For vegetarian options, we ordered an Avocado Roll, Asparagus Roll, Yam Tempura Roll, and Agedashi Tofu and found these to only be average The exception was the Yam Tempura Roll which we found over-cooked and too crunchy and were not impressed with.

The service was really good and staff were very friendly, with the food arriving quickly. The restaurant is nicely decorated with a modern ambience and we did find the prices to be very reasonable. Conveniently located along the busy Lougheed Highway, it’s a good option for takeout if you’re passing through the area.

Maybe we ordered the wrong items on the menu but we just weren’t too impressed with the food at Gaya Sushi. It wasn’t bad, it’s just we’ve had better for a similar price range.

Food was decent and reasonably priced! But the waiter. I think he was also the manager was very rude. When our order was incorrectly brought to us, we asked just for the sauce to dip it in. He very rudely responded what sauce ? I think the he didnt want to admit the order was wrong. We didnt care we just wanted spicy tuna sashimi spicy sauce since our order was brought out with just the sashimi. Didn’t receive much service from him, the female staff was much more friendly!
They have a pretty good tuna tataki roll.
